Judy Garland (born Frances Ethel Gumm; June 10, 1922 – June 22, 1969) was an American actress, singer and dancer.
Though critically acclaimed for many different film roles throughout her career, she is widely known for her performance as Dorothy Gale in the 1939 musical fantasy film, The Wizard of Oz.
Garland attained international stardom as an actress in both musical and dramatic roles, as a recording artist and on the concert stage. Renowned for her versatility, she received a Juvenile Oscar, a Golden Globe Award and a Special Tony Award during her lifetime Garland was the first female artist to win the Grammy Award for Album of the Year, which she won at the 4th Annual Grammy Awards for her live recording, Judy at Carnegie Hall (1961).
