Achille Togliani

Son of the aeronautical engineer Adelmo Togliani, as a child he moved with his family to Milan where, attending an accounting institute, he was a schoolmate of Walter Chiari. After having attempted the path of cinema, he took part in some magazines, including Moulin Rouge and Macario's Blue Fever (1947): here he was noticed by the maestro Cinico Angelini who wanted him in his team of "radio singers" that is the Orchestra della Canzone, where he entered in 1950.

The warm and harmonious voice combined with a film star figure (among her youthful flames were Sophia Loren [1] who then used the pseudonym Sofia Lazzaro, with whom she appeared in numerous photo novels of the time, and Adele Faccio) they quickly made one of the most popular interpreters of Italian song, with a substantially melodic repertoire that included reinterpretations of hits from the thirties and forties (the remakes of Parlami d'amore Mariù and Little girl in love are famous) and romantic passages with poignant verses such as Signorinella , The song of love, How it was raining, The lady thirty years ago, Goodbye Lady !, Let me sing a song, You can't buy luck, For the last time, With the lights out and Knowing you.

In 1986 he was a regular guest together with Carla Boni, Giorgio Consolini and Joe Sentieri in the program A fantastic tragic Friday for 13 episodes.

After having participated in several broadcasts in the sixties (Great variety), seventies, eighties (Dear friends near and far) and ninety (The Sanremo case), he held his last concert on July 27, 1995 in Treviso in Piazza dei Signori, and then die in Rome on 12 August of the same year. His remains rest in the Verano Cemetery.
